The U.S.-China Bi-national Commission on Building Trust and Enhancing Relations held its first series of discussions in Washington, D.C. on June 20-22. The Commission is headed by Ernest Wilson III, Dean of the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California, and Wang Jisi, Dean of the School of International Relations at Peking University. In advancing C-100’s Public Diplomacy objectives, the Committee is a Strategic Sponsor of the Commission.
Commission members include distinguished former officials, academics, civic, and business leaders. In Washington, the Commission met with key officials of the U.S. State Department, Office of the Trade Representative, Defense Department, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and with journalists, policy analysts, and civic groups. The Commission will meet in Beijing in September. The Commission plans to issue its report later this fall.
