Vice President Biden has escorted Vice President Xi throughout the trip and attended the luncheon along with Commerce Secretary John Bryson and Ambassador to China Gary Locke, California Governor Jerry Brown, former Governors Grey Davis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, and many other California dignitaries.
C-100 members Andrew Cherng, Ming Hsieh, Michelle Kwan, Stewart Kwoh, Walter Wang, and Charlie Woo; C-100 Advisory Council member John Thornton; and Executive Director Angie Tang also attended the luncheon.
Ng met Vice President Xi at a February 15 luncheon in Washington, D.C. co-sponsored by the Committee of 100. In Los Angeles, Ng observed to the World Journal that Vice President Xi was “easy-going” and “attentive to his suggestions.” Ng hoped that Vice President Xi would encourage small- and medium-sized Chinese businesses to invest in the United States. Ng also told the Vice President that he plans to lead a Committee of 100 delegation to Beijing at the end of 2012 or in early 2013, and Xi extended his warm welcome to the delegation.
