On April 26, the Committee of 100 hosted its inaugural Annual Leadership
Summit at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C. An integral part
of the Committee's Leadership Development Initiative (LDI), the Summit offered
mid-level professionals a unique opportunity for career development and
networking.
The one-day program included an exclusive Executive Leadership
Training facilitated by Columbia Business School Professor William Klepper and
roundtable discussions with C-100 members on developing leadership skills.
The
Committee of 100 hosted its third Women’s Leadership Roundtable in New York
City on November 20, with 17 participants. Under the C-100 Women's Leadership
Exchange Program, the Third Women’s Leadership Roundtable provides an
interactive forum for young Asian American professional women to learn from
C-100 members how to be effective leaders in their respective fields, the
larger society, and the global arena. Roundtable discussion topics included
work/family balance, negotiating a salary, and joining boards. Attendees
praised the open dialogue format and look forward to future meetings. C-100 New

C-100 hosted its second Washington Leadership Roundtable
Luncheon at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace on October 24. C-100
members Ben Wu (President,
U.S.-Asia Institute) and Nancy Yuan (Vice
President, Asia Foundation Washington Office) led discussion with eight young Washington area
professionals from a variety of fields. Participants spoke in depth about
workplace challenges and successes as experienced by Asian Americans, as well as opportunities for civic participation.
Committee of 100 Chairman Dominic Ng welcomed over 200 young and mid-career professionals to
the Third Leadership and Mentoring Program Kickoff Panel Discussion and Mentee
Graduation on July 28 in Los Angeles.
Ng encouraged the participants to become “fully participating citizens in
American society,” taking part in community activities as well as excelling in
their careers.
For the fourth year, Bay Area members led the C-100 Business Forum at Stanford University, attended by 43 Chinese executive MBA students from the University of Hong Kong on July 26. Most of the students were mid-level managers from China working in business and municipal government.
As the concluding event in the Washington Leadership Dialogue series, C-100 hosted a Washington D.C. Leadership Roundtable, commencing with a reception followed by a dinner discussion. The roundtable is part of the Committee's Leadership Development initiative that conducts mentoring programs in Southern California, New York, and China.

Ambassador to China Gary Locke congratulated the 39 recipients of the 2012 C-100
Leadership Scholarship on May 15 at the Leadership Scholarship Program (LSP)
Awards Dinner in Beijing.
Ambassador Locke hailed the Committee of 100 for its effort to identify and
establish lasting ties with the next generation of Chinese leaders. Find the

21st Annual Conference Leadership Development Forum Mentors and Mentees.
As part of C-100’s Leadership Development Program, C-100 members and young professionals convened for a luncheon discussion on professional advancement in Pasadena on April 21. The twelve C-100 member-mentors and 32 mentees were divided into five groups.
The innovative Leadership and Mentoring Program inaugurated by Southern California C-100 members last year is in the midst of its second six-month session. Since November 2011, nine dedicated Committee members have been conducting one-on-one mentoring sessions with 16 young professionals. Each mentee also takes on a volunteer assignment with C-100, for example assisting at the upcoming Annual Conference in Los Angeles.
At the invitation of the Chengdu Municipal Government, the Committee of 100 hosted a “C-100 Innovation Forum” on October 16, featuring a delegation of members led by Charlie Sie. Sie reported that a standing-room-only audience of 500 members representing a cross-section of Chengdu citizens attended the Forum, which was broadcast by Sichuan TV. The delegation met with Chengdu Mayor Ge Honglin before the Forum. Sichuan Party Secretary Li Dengju opened the Forum with welcome remarks.
