October 2012
September celebrated three remarkable years in my role as C-100 Executive Director. As I review the past three years, I can say without reservation that each year’s accomplishments surpass those of the previous year. I attribute these impressive milestones to the stewardship of the Chairman and the Board of Directors in advancing C-100’s mission, to the members’ substantive contributions and to our professional staff, whose focused commitment and esprit de corps keep the organization strategically impactful.
This month’s newsletter charts the robust growth path of the Committee’s three core programs—Educational Exchange, Public Diplomacy, and Leadership Development—and upgraded operational capabilities.
Public Diplomacy: Our Washington Leadership Dialogue in June yielded high-impact exchanges with senior U.S. officials from the State Department, White House, and Congress. Noteworthy meetings included candid discussions with Kurt Campbell, Assistant Secretary of State, East Asian and Pacific Affairs; Chris Lu, Assistant to the President and Cabinet Secretary, White House; Senators Daniel Inouye, Dianne Feinstein, and Scott Brown; and the Co-Chairs of the U.S.-China Working Group, Representatives Charles Boustany and Rick Larsen.
Leadership Development: Future Asian Pacific American leaders, who currently hold notable leadership positions in their respective fields or are on a path to advanced leadership positions, continue to benefit from C-100’s leadership roundtables in New York, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, and Beijing, China. The New York Women’s Leadership Roundtable, Los Angeles Leadership Mentoring Program, and Leadership Scholarship Program in China are developing promising leaders of tomorrow.
Operational Capabilities: C-100 is building up social-media capabilities with web-based applications, including Twitter, webcasts, and podcasts. Various C-100 members participated in web-based interview platforms.
With the sanguine outlook of C-100’s growth trajectory, we are making even greater strides in strengthening U.S.-China relations. Thank you for joining us on the journey.
