On March 31, the Committee joined the Japanese American Association of New York, the Japan Society, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, and other Asian American groups in sponsoring a benefit at Circle in New York City to raise funds for disaster relief and recovery in Japan. The Japanese American Association has created a Japan Disaster Relief Fund to accept donations online.
Among C-100 members, Chef Ming Tsai has been particularly active in supporting Japanese relief efforts through elaborate dinners. For example, on April 4, he donated the proceeds from the monthly wine dinner at his Blue Ginger restaurant to Give2Asia’s fund for Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief. Give2Asia, a charity that makes donations for disaster relief and recovery to local organizations in Asia, is led by member Ta-lin Tsu. On April 17 at Clio Restaurant in Boston, Tsai and other celebrity cooks prepared a 10-course kaiseki dinner to raise funds for Japan.
